The RFE was established in 2013. under the vision of Madam Sandra Wanduragala, Chairperson Royal International School Kurunegala with the intention of ensuring that no student enrolled at RIS would ever face a situation of having his or her education interrupted under any circumstances.

Chairperson Message
The Royal Foundation for Education began with a simple dream – to stand beside students who need financial support to continue their studies. During the pandemic, we saw more clearly than ever how deeply some of our own families at Royal International School were affected. For some, the loss of a breadwinner brought life-changing hardship, and for their children, the possibility of their education being interrupted.
It was in these moments that the Foundation came alive. I am truly grateful that we have already been able to keep many of our students on their educational journey. This is the heart of what we do – ensuring that no child is left behind because of circumstances beyond their control.
Together, with compassion and collective strength, we can touch more lives and make a greater difference than we ever could alone.
Mrs. Sandra B Wanduragala is the Chairperson and is a co-founder of Royal International School - Kurunegala and the founder of the Royal Foundation for Education. In addition, she is an Attorney-at-Law by profession and is also the Founder and Chairperson of Selyn Exports (Pvt) Ltd., the only Fair Trade guaranteed Textile Company certified by the World Fair Trade Organization and Selyn Handicrafts (Pvt) Ltd.
Mrs. Sandra B Wanduragala has received numerous awards in Sri Lanka and internationally.

In light of the covid pandemic, the Royal International School has pledged Rs. 1 million annually to the Foundation to ensure a student whose family is facing a critical illness, a severe physical disability and the very worst case scenario of death, will never have to face the possibility of having to compromise on his or her education.

On 4th January 2021, the Royal Foundation for Education was officially relaunched with the generous support of Royal International School. As part of this renewed commitment, the school pledged an annual contribution of Rs. 1 million to safeguard and sustain the education of students during these challenging and unprecedented times.
As part of the 30th Anniversary celebrations of Royal International School, the Royal Foundation for Education awarded a scholarship. Madam Sandra B. Wanduragala, Chairperson of Royal International School Kurunegala, presented the scholarship to Nisith Chanmal, which was officially received by his mother. The award recognizes Nisith’s exceptional academic performance and notable achievements in extracurricular activities.

Royal International School proudly recognises the incredible accomplishments of Laksya Sandali, whose outstanding performances in athletics have brought pride to our school and nation.
In recognition of her exceptional talent and dedication, the school has awarded her an additional scholarship to further encourage and support her sporting journey as she prepares for the Asian Games and beyond.
